Born on 19th January 1988 in Ghodegaon village in Maharashtra, Vikas Kale was a full-on cricket fanatic as a child. As a child, Vikas was never interested in Kabaddi, but he is one of those players whose life has turned around because of the PKL. While he was in school, Vikas used to watch his seniors and friends practice Kabaddi in the school ground.
The more he watched the game, the more it became interesting for him. He started playing Kabaddi when he was eleven years old. The togetherness Kabaddi brought to him through his friends made him fall in love with the sport, but this didn't last very long. His parents strongly opposed Kabaddi and insisted him to focus on his studies. Kabaddi was more than a game to Vikas, it was a way, to vent out the frustrations of the hardships in his home.
Once he finished high school, Vikas started training Kabaddi regularly under coach Rajendra Bansare, who took him under his wing. His parents advised him to take up Cricket as it had much better pay compared to Kabaddi. Vikas convinced his parents how the game was getting better recognition around the country. He started to take various jobs around his area, including, delivering gas cylinders, for the extra income.
Following his stint in various district tournaments, the Sports Authority of India selected him to represent the state of Maharashtra. The Maharashtra team led by him came in third at the Senior National Kabaddi Championship.
He became the part of PKL in 2015 when he debuted for the Bengal Warriors Since season 2 he has played for Telugu Titans, U Mumba, Gujarat Fortunegiants, Patna Pirates. In season 6, he was bought for 27.4 lakhs by the Patna Pirates and while he was with them, he scored 39 points off 22 matches in Season 6. he then moved to Haryana Steelers for PKL Season 7 and has been with them. Vikas has played for 5 teams in the PKL and is looking forward to the day he will be playing for team India.
His accolades include a Gold medal at the 65th Senior Nationals 2017-18, Bronze medal at the 64th Senior Nationals 2016-17, Gold medal at the 65th Maharashtra state Championship, and a Silver medal at the 2nd Federation Cup 2017.
